This elegant and exciting antique Caucasian Sumak has a medallion design adapted from classical Turkish rugs of the so-called 'Holbein' type. The combination of color and rich ornamental detail is done to stunning effect, and it is nicely complemented by the smaller medallions of the border set against a dark contrasting ground.
